Baby teeth need gaps between them to allow for the larger adult (permanent) teeth to grow in. Sometimes the permanent teeth come in before the baby teeth are lost. Worried parents need some patience - the baby tooth will eventually fall out and the tongue pushes the permanent tooth forward into its proper position. The child will have to be followed regularly by the dentist to assess for future crowding of the teeth.
